Darrin, the kids and I ended up celebrating Mother's day (for me) on Saturday night since we knew Sunday would be a crazy day. Darrin (and the kids) bought be this beautiful necklace. I really wasn't expecting ANYTHING like this so it was a huge surprise! The sweetest thing is that I remember I saw this necklace a while ago and breifly mentioned how I thought it was pretty. Darrin remembered I liked it and bought it for me as a "thank you for having our son"/mother's day gift. :) When Rylee was born, Darrin bought me a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace. So I guess this "jewelry with babies" is becoming a little tradition. Would it be so wrong of me to want more kids just to get more jewlery? :)

I also recieved this gorgeous bouquet of flowers. I really love flowers. I know that they just die and in some ways it's such a waste of money...but really, I just LOVE them. When Darrin and I were first dating he used to be me LOTS of flowers. And when he went to Iraq he instructed his parents (who had control of his money while he was away) to get me flowers every month he was gone. Everytime, it was from the same florist - Victor's Flowers in Lakewood. Their flowers are just beautiful, smell amazing and normally last a good while. HE hadn't bought me flower from Victors in years because they are kind of expensive, and it's not just his money anymore! :) But this mother's day, I got Victor's flower and I just about died when he surprised me with them! :)
Sunday we went to church, then to my parents home to celebrate with my parents, grandparents, my sister and her family and Brenda (Darrin's mom). After that we went over to Darrin's grandma's house to spend some time with his Dad and stepmom and the family that was there. Overall, it was a great day( minus Rylee being WAY too tired and having a serious meltdown at my parents...but I like the skip over that part in my mind). Unforunately, I was terrible and didn't take any photos. DArn...I really need to get better that!
Rylee Updates
Monday morning Darrin went to change Rylee and she flat out refused to put on a diaper. She's done this before - but this time she was dertermined! He asked her if she wanted to use the "big girl potty" to which she excitedly replied "YESSS!" So we explained to her the whole "once we start we can't go back" deal and she was all for it. So as of Monday, we offically have started potty training! She's really doing great! When we're at home - she's normally pretty good. She hardly even has to have me ask her if she needs to go and most times she just runs into the bathroom all by herself. But, like anything, it's been a mix of good and bad days. WE're just taking it one day at a time and celebrating the small accomplishments!
Here she is going potty right before bedtime!

Jake updates
Before Jake was born we had bought his bedding, wall decorations (and a whole bunch of other stuff) with his crib from a lady on Craigslist. It was an amazing deal. We found out that in January the crib was actually recalled and when we compared it to Rylee's crib, we just didn't feel like it was safe for Jake to sleep in every night. So we went out and bought a new crib from Bergstroms. We really love it and so does Jake! His room isn't painted yet (we'll see when that actually happens) or even decorated (which I'm hoping to do this month)- but here's his new crib!
Jake is also moving around a lot lately and talking like crazy. He's getting great at flipping over from his back to his tummy and is starting to flip back too. He's also turning himself. I feel like everytime go into his room to check on him while he's sleeping, I find him in a different position. Here's a photo of him grabbing his feet. I love when he does this. It's so cute!
House Updates
The other day Darrin and I decided to try out our green thumb, so went out and bought some plants for the house. We bought some flowers for one of the three planters outside, some solar lights, and plants and herbs for our vegetable garden. For the garden we bought red beller peppers, banana peppers, cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, and 4 tomoato plants. Then we bought parsley, basil and rosemary for the herb garden. There's lots more veggies and herbs I want to plant, but I'm trying to stay small for the first garden!
