A little different Christmas Holiday

Normally, our "Christmas routine" consists of doing Christmas with my side of the family (parents, Lana, Andy, Peer and my grandparents) on Christmas Eve and then going back to my parent's house in the morning for a Christmas brunch and just enjoying a lazy day. Well.... this Christmas was a little bit different

A little less than a week ago Rylee came down with a stomach bug with all the throwing up, and everything that comes with it. I'm quickly realizing the fact that there's two things I absolutely hate about motherhood --Rylee having nightmares and her being sick. Ugh...it's the worse. A couple days later, Rylee decided to pass on the bug to mama (great time to learn to share... huh?). Double "ugh". Christmas Eve, I was quarantined to our bed and bathroom.....all. day. long. It was awful. By the end of the afternoon, I was finally convinced to call the doctor who told me to come into the hospital right away. Darrin, bless his heart, left work early and met my dad and myself at the hospital (I still feel bad that he left work early for what turned out to be nothing....). I was contracting every 2-3 minutes or so (sometimes 4 minutes...). I still couldn't keep down ice chips and they gave me an IV of saline and anti-nausea medication. After the entire evening of monitoring me and Jacob (who was totally fine, by-the-way), taking blood and re-hydrating me -- although my contractions hadn't stopped, I was allowed to go home. I was really sad that we missed Christmas with my family and Rylee couldn't even exchange gifts with Peer or anything. :(

Since I was definitely not up to par on Christmas day, my parents and grandparents came over to our house, brought my mom's traditional Christmas egg souffle and we all sat around - watching Rylee open up gifts and drinking tea. It was nice... but definitely not normal. I hope next year we can be back to our old routine. Afterwards my parents took Rylee for the afternoon so I could rest and D could get to work. Today... I still don't feel very good ... the flu-like symptoms are still there and now I've come down with a bad case of a sinus infection. Ugh. I'm hoping that it all subsides quickly though. Please pray for a fast recovery.

With all that.... here's a couple of videos we caught of Rylee opening gifts. Despite the surrounding circumstances of not feeling the best and mommy being sick... she had a great morning! :)

This was by far, the hit of the morning. This rocking horse used to be mine when I was a little girl. My dad worked hard on painting and fixing it up so that Rylee could now use it. She LOVES it!

Among many things - she got this adorable little jacket. She felt so stylish in it and decided to give us a little fashion show! :) It was so cute!

  2. Sorry to hear you had such a rough Christmas. My S-I-L was in the ER the day after Christmas (she's 12 weeks prego) - sounds like it was a weird Christmas for all this year. Glad you are better now!
