However, I do not have crafty hands. And somewhere between what seems like an easy project, becomes to hard, too expensive or just not as cute as it seemed in my head. But, for some odd reason, that doesn't stop me from continuing to try to make different things.
My friend, Carrie, made a CUTE hair bow holder and it looked easy enough to make. I did a little research to see different styles and how you'd make one (she gave me the short version and I need more of a step by step guide), went out and purchased all the necessary materials and tools to make said project (promising myself that I would use these tools again, thus making them worth the purchase). :) Then tonight, after the kiddos went to bed, I set out to make my very own bow holder for my Rylee-bug.
I'm proud to say that not only did I FINISH this project. But I actually REALLY like how it turned out. Check it out:
I started with a blank canvas board:
I painted small wood letters, white, then glued them on....
Then I decorated it....
All done!
Now... there's different ways you could hang this. Some people stable a ribbon to the top so they can hang it by the ribbon. Other people put on actual hanging hardware. ......
However, my canvas boards came with these little wooden things. I'm assuming that they somehow go into the slots on the back of the canvas but D and I didn't know how and I didn't care too much to look it up online. However, I thought that using these would be a great way to display the holder. That way I could stand it up on her dresser instead of hanging it on her wall. So we stapled one on each side of the bottom, back corners.
TA-DAAA!!! A standing, bow holder! :) I'm so proud! :)
This was SUCH an easy project and now I'm kind of hooked! I saw some awesome ones online that used picture frames as well. AWESOME! Rylee's doesn't have THAT many bows, but I'm determined to figure out what else I could use this for --so I can make more of them! :) :)
Woohoo.... and that, my friend, is crafting time with Jennifer. Good night. :)

I love it!! So cute, and it looks pretty simple! All of Kate's clips are pretty tiny, so they're all stored in a little tin, but once she grows into bigger bows, I'm sure I'll want something like this...so cute! Good job!!
ReplyDeleteFun idea! I would maybe make a larger one to use as a picture board- with crisscrossed ribbons to hold photos in place.
ReplyDeleteAnon -- you can TOTALLY do that. You can also try using a cork board in that case. I've actually made that before. Then you can opt to slip the photos in through the ribbons or you can use cute thumbtacks to post up photos, notes...whatever! :) Enjoy! And if you try it, let me know how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI certainly will!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I never have time/money for crafts even though I love scrapbooking and making wreaths and such. But I think once I have children I'll be more crafty. Or once we have a house and not rent an apartment anymore I will want to create things to make the house a home :-)
