A couple posts ago I told you of our super fun upcoming Dodger wedding for one of D's co-workers. It was this weekend and we had a BALL! :) It was so much fun and so very different than your typical country club wedding! We were so interested in how all the details would work -- especially girly things like do I wear heels or flats? :) For the record: I wore heels and was perfectly fine utnil the end of the night. I did bring my flats in my big mama-purse just in case, but never had to break them out! ;) Here's a quick rundown with some picture collages for your enjoyment! :)
We pulled up to the Stadium Clubhouse parking lot, walked in and was ushered downstairs to the "Dugout Club". Read: fancy cafeteria/cafe for rich and lucky people who get to sit in the dugout seats. We hung out there for a bit and then were told we could go out to find seats. We sat in the very first center section behind homeplate! SO COOL. Definitely first and last time I'll ever be sitting there for any kind of baseball game, in any stadium! They had a great DJ playing some good tunes and we chatted for awhile waiting for the wedding to start. The electronic message screen had a message from Dave and Cassandra thanking everyone for joining them in their special day. Plus their engagement photo was on up on the JumobTron (and EVERY SINGLE other TV throughout the entire park).
Once the wedding started, the bridesmaids and groomesmen lined up on the warning tracks and the bride came out from the Dodger dugout. :) The only bad part about this was 1) we had that safety screen/netting in front of us so it was kind of a wierd degree of separation. And 2) where the bridal party stood kind of blocked our view from the actual wedding. Which was kind of a bummer considering we came to see them get married and not stare at the bridal party's backside. But whatev' .....it was still cool! :) PS -- the Bride looked GORGEOUS in this amazing, one-shoulder feathery gown with a long cathedral veil. It was like a dress out of a magazine where I would say "who could really pull that off??" And than BAM -- there she was totally pulling it off. She looked stunning
After the wedding, they had a little cocktail hour where they opened up the Warning Track and you could hang out there or in the dugouts. They had an open bar, fancy hand passed hors'doeuvres and a Dodger Dog station!! Check out Darrin double-fisting it with a Dodger Dog and a Tuna Tartare on seasme crisp. :) It was a lot of fun!!
The reception was inside the Stadium Clubhouse which was beautiful with an awesome view of the field. In an attached room they had these big plush Dodger chairs, a pool table and video games. That was a fun thing people could do during the reception. Other fun things: Our seating card looked like a Dodger ticket; they had the cutest "Just Married" suitcase for the wedding cards on the gift table; instead of signing a framed photo of them everyone signed homeplate (which we're pretty sure was the actual base they got married on); their cake was a SUPER cute baseball themed cake with a Dodger's Precious Moments cake topper and of course, the favors were Cracker Jacks and Peanuts in personalized popcorn tubs. :) They did such a great job incorporating the theme and everything they love!
Overall, it was a great night! Most weddings you kind of forget about but this certainly will be one we'll never forget! We feel so honored they included us in celebrating their special day. However, Darrin and I discovered that even though we were so excited to stay out late, we ended up bowing out before 10pm! We were exhausted. ha ha ha. It was so much fun though and we're very happy for these two sweet people (who now are relaxing in Bora Bora for their honeymoon! Yup....I'm a little jealous! :) ) A HUGE thank you goes out to both my parents and D's parents for taking the kiddos overnight. We couldn't of had such a great time without you guys taking such good care of the munchkins! Thanks again!
