Enter Pinterest. If you don't know what it is - you should. Basically it's a website where you can create virtual bulletin boards and "pin" stuff you find on the web to your boards. Everyone's board is public on the site and you can browse through what other people pinned up on their boards and "repin" stuff on your own. It can be pretty addicting. Thankfully, the novelty for me has worn off just bit and it's not as much of a black hole for me as it use to be. However, I still find myself wasting time browsing through the site and pinning things that I promise I'll do or try or wear or decorate .....someday. :) Anywho - I've seen some awesome organization projects and since I'm nesting, I want to do all them, right away. Thanks Pinterest for feeding into my craving.
So that brings us to yesterday. The grandparents had Rylee all day and I vowed we were going to do some serious cleaning. But after only one load of dishes and scrubbing just one of the bathrooms, I was pooped!! :( So we had lunch, took a little nap and then I decided to try quenching some of my organization thirst. I headed to Dollar Tree (a new HUGE one, by the way. It was a bit exciting for me) and FILLED up my basket with a bunch of stuff I'd been wanting for projects I've seen via Pinterest. Then, last night, after the kiddos were in bed I set out to accomplish some of my projects. I was determined to be productive in some way yesterday! :) Here's what I did:
ORGANIZE SHEETS
We have one very large linen closet, so it's basically up to me to make sure it's organized. Which I have tried to do but am never too successful with it. And my wonderful, laundry-obsessed husband normally just quickly folds sheets and shoves them on the bottom shelf. I'm not complaining though...because he actually DOES the laundry and it's basically because of him that we're not sleeping on the same sheets for a month at a time. Thanks hunny! Anywho - here's our before- sheets shoved everywhere and praying they don't fall off- sheet shelf:
But just some basic baskets and cute labels later, we have a nicely (for now) organized place to put our sheets. :) yay!

MEDICINE CABINET
We don't really have a medicine cabinet. I mean, we have medicine cabinets in the bathrooms but they're older and pretty shallow, so things don't fit very well in there. What ends up happening is that we have random meds all over the house -- some in each bathroom, some in the kitchen, some on the top shelf of the bookcase....yea they're pretty much everywhere. And whenever we need something I can never find it. So I grabbed some plastic shoeboxes from the Dollar Tree and then walked around the house throwing everything I could find into the boxes. See -- 3 boxes filled with random meds from random places:

Then I dumped them all out on the bed, checked for expired meds, organized all the leftover stuff into meds for the different age groups (considering that come February we'll have 3 different age groups in this house. eek!) as well as 2 "everyone" boxes, slapped on some labels and put everything under our sink in our hallway bathroom. Hooray! I'm super excited about this! It's still not totally perfect but it is a HUGE improvement from where we began. And for that, I'm excited.

This next project was a super quick one. The kids LOVE to brush their teeth and are always climbing up and grabbing their toothbrushes. I find them all.over.the.house. Which grosses me out and I end up throwing away toothbrush after toothbrush. So, I bought these little cord clips that have a self-adhesive backing, tacked them up in the kids' bathroom cabinet and TA-DA, toothbrush problem solved. :) Now they stay right side up (because it also grossed me out ot just put them laying down in the cabinet. I know...I'm weird like that) and they actually STAY up and out of reach of the kiddos. Perfect!

And lastly, I made this Christmas card holder today! It was ridiculously easy to make. Take a 14" embroidery hoop + a package of mini clothespins, glue the pins around the hoop and we now have a cute little holder for all our Christmas cards!! I attached a green ribbon, which I will buy more of to make a pretty bow at the top, and then put it over our mirror in the living room. It looks plain now but it'll be nice once we have more cards! We haven't decorated for Christmas yet, but I guess this changes things! :) This was originally from Martha Stewart -- check out hers because it looks a lot cuter than mine. I mean, she is Martha Stewart for goodness sake. )

And that's all for now! This is my next project: quiet time boxes for Rylee. A box of stuff for each day of the week during quiet time. She doesn't really nap anymore, but Jake does and since they share a room, I need to help keep her quietly occupied. She normally does a pretty good job but she gets bored sometimes and then has a tough time staying in her room. I'm hoping that with some different stuff each day, that problem will be solved. We'll see, I guess. I'm going to be taking some of her current toys and putting them in the boxes along with a small coloring books, crayons, puzzles and the like. Here's a little picture and a link to someone else's blog on how they did it.
Tweetie Pie Baby Quiet Time Boxes

Stay tuned for that....and whatever else I decide to do next. I really should get started on Brooke's nursery!! Hello Pinterest! :)
