My Giggle Place
There's this indoor playground by our house that I *finally* was able to find the time to take the kids. Mom and I went together one afternoon and it was a blast! We'll totally go back -- let me know if you want to join us!! :) **Oh funny side note -- I love people watching and what's more interesting is mommy watching. This group of Asian women fell IN LOVE with Jake and followed him around while he was climbing in and out of the jungle gym of one of the rooms. They were hovering, which I thought was funny but it didn't really bother me. I was sitting on the sidelines, letting Jake do his own thing and explore. They obviously didn't think that as acceptable though and one of the ladies passed me while she headed to the restroom and let me know that "oh, don't worry, so-in-so is watching him" LOL ummm...thank you strange woman. So am I. I'm using these cool things on my head called eyes. They allow me to watch my child without standing over him constantly. :) I just chuckled to myself and said "Thanks!" Not sure if it was a culture thing or what. But people are funny...and interesting...and fun to watch (with my eyes)! :)
My Giggle Place had an awesome rec room with padded floors and a bunch of balls and some nets. Jake had a "ball" ;)

Rylee loved climbing up the mini rock wall....
Both the kids loved climbing all around this great, kind of high, jungle gym that included an awesome ball pit, slide and a cool, low-to-the-ground swing. *In this picture: Jake was really proud of himself for making it up to the top. He tried a couple times and finally succeeded! That's my boy! :)
And of course no day would be complete without some dressing up and having fun on stage! :) Rylee wanted to wear this Snow White dress the rest of the afternoon!!
The other big fun thing we did was VBS at our church!! VBS techincally starts at age 5 but they have a special "mini VBS" for the kids ages 0-4 of volunteers. So I got to volunteer all week in the 0-15 month room, holding itty bitty babies, playing on the floor with them and enjoying the fact that they basically stay in one spot! :) I even rocked several to sleep many of the days. awwwwww tough job, huh? :) Rylee and Jake had a BLAST during their mini VBS. They sang songs, did crafts, Rylee got to play on this BIG water slide every.single.day and of course, each day had snack time! :) For a little bit of the day everyone came together to listen to their story and sing songs. The volunteers told me how much Rylee and Jake loved each other and how they just HAD to sit next to each other every time everyone gathered together (I guess they have boxes drawn in tape on the ground and each child has to sit in her/his own box. Jake and Rylee would always choose boxes right next to each other and sit RIGHT on the line so they were as close as possible. How cute is that??!). The first day Rylee flipped out after they separated again b/c she got a cookie and NEEDED To make sure that Jake got a cookie too. They finally had to take her over to his room and show her that he, indeed, got a cookie just like she did. :) Man they can fight but they can be SO cute and loving. It's funny - Jake was a definite surprise baby for us, but Darrin and I say constantly how thankful we are that God knew better and gave us the kids so close in age. I absolutely LOVE to see them interact and play with each other. It's so adorable! We're truly blessed! **PS - sorry about no photos. We had too many kids in the nursery for me to go over and take pictures of the kids. Oh well.... you can imagine their cuteness. :)
Darrin and I also celebrted our 5th Anniversary. We celebrated by going to the Summit House for dinner (verdict: pretty good but Gullivers in Irvine beats it!) and bought a nice BBQ!! I keep forgetting to take a photo of it but it's nice and you know, a grill. Three gas burners, a warmer and a lighted cutting board. :) We already broke it in with a little family BBQ! :) Summer's not over quite yet!
This weekend we're going CAMPING! Our first camping trip. We're going with 2 other families -- friends of ours from church. This is the first time we're all camping with mobile children, so say a prayer for us if you remember! :) I'll update next week with LOTS of photos!
Looking Ahead: Next month we are going to a friend's wedding at Dodger Stadium!! They're getting married over homeplate. :) So neat and different!! We're really thankful and blessed to be invited to share in their big day and can't wait to spend it with D's other co-workers! It's sure to be a blast. Then in Novemeber a good friend of mine, Carly, will be getting married to her sweetheart. WE're really excited for them and I'm so happy to see my friend in love with such a wonderful Godly man! So photos will certainly be coming with those fun events! Also, speaking of lovebirds, Darrin's best friend, Mike (who he served wtih in the Marines and now lives in Idaho) recently got engaged to the most wonderful woman and they're planning to have their wedding out here next summer. They've asked Darrin to get ordained and perform the ceremony! How cool (and kind of funny), huh??? It's not for awhile yet, but we're already getting excited for it! We're feeling really blessed that these great friends (who feel more like family) have included us in such a special day in their lives! Fun times ahead!!
