A Great Day

Some days just seem perfect. Today was one of those days. It was a day that was wonderfully relaxing and felt like it lasted forever.

It started off in the morning with Darrin and I deciding to take the kids to the zoo. We chose Santa Ana Zoo since it's close, it's small and it's cheap. Perfect for us. We got there, started walking around and Rylee was instantly fascinated with all the.....dirt. lol She soon got excited about all the anaimals too! Rylee loved all the monkey cages (as she LOVES monkeys right now) and it was fun showing her differnet animals while laughing at the cute ways she tried to say their names. Wallaby = "wally" Lama was "LaLa" Frog was "Ribbit" It was too cute. After we saw a bunch of different animals we walked over to the insect exhibit which had some fun activites like dressing up as a Safari guide and a magnet game. Rylee really liked the magnet game and practically tackled a 5 year old who started playing with it. She sure can be a fiesty one! :) We finished the day by getting memberships to the zoo - so now we can go all year long. In July they're having camel rides. That'll be fun!

Daddy and Rylee with the Emus in the background - can you see them?

Hello there, Mr. Ribbit. I am Ry-Ry.

After the zoo we swung by a new fish place that opened up by our house and had a yummy lunch of trout and shrimp. Then while the kids napped, so did I. I ended up taking a 2 and half hour nap! And I mean I really slept. Now a days, I don't sleep very well - not even at night - so to be able to have a long nap where I really felt rested afterwards was an answered prayer. After everoyne was up, I made BBQ chicken pizza and a salad for dinner which we ate out on our patio as a family. It was so nice to sit there in the cool of the day and eat dinner all together. WE also check out our garden, like we do everyday. Today we found 2 new fun things 1) green beans! We don't know if they have been there for a little bit nad we've just overlooked them or if they just grew magically overnight. But either way, they're there now and they are GREAT! Darrin even picked one and tasted it. It still needs a little bit more time. :) 2) A ity bitty baby bell pepper! It's super cute. And we're REALLY excited about it! Check it out:

After dinner, it was bathtime for both kids then Darrin suggested we take a little walk around the neighborhood. We put the kiddos, already in their PJs, in the double stroller for a pre-bedtime stroll. I love going for walks and I love that everyone waves and says hello. It just makes you feel so warm and welcome. Like a real community. After we got home we realized that somewhere on the walk, Rylee lost her "Miss Bear" (or "pooh", or "boo" or whatever she is calling it that week). Whatever the name of it is - the fact remains that it's an esstential part of Rylee (especially for nap and bedtime) and it cannot be lost. So Darrin, as the hero daddy he is, went out looking for Miss Bear. After about 15 minutes, he returned, Bear in hand and bedtime could resume. WHEW. Thank you dad.
It was an amazing day spent all together. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

  1. Sounds like a great day! We have yet to hit up the SA Zoo...soon! I saw they have something called Sunset at the Zoo (or something like that) - it's concerts there on Sunday nights. Perhaps we could check it out together if it doesn't interfere with bedtimes??
