We tried potty training (per one of my last posts). It went well for a couple days, but the second week in it turned disastrous. I don't know why, but she totally regressed. Not only would she not go the bathroom on the potty or tell us when she needed to go, she also would throw HUGE fits when we tried to put her on the potty. It got to the point where Darrin and I both decided that it was starting to become a very bad experience, and we didn't want that for us or for Rylee. So we went back to diapers and put the whole potty training on hold for a little bit. We'll go back again when we feel like she's ready again. She's barely two and we know we won't have a teenager in diapers. When the time is right, it'll happen.
Then on May 29th, Rylee turned 2 years old! I can't believe our little peanut is 2 already! It's gone by so fast and so slow at the same time. On one hand, we feel like it was just yesterday when she was placed in our arms - all bundled up in a hospital blanket with a pink little bonnet on. And on the other hand, we can hardly remember a time without her. The time before Rylee seem like light years away. Here's a fun side-by-side of Rylee as a newborn, a 1 year old and now a 2 year old:
We celebrated Rylee's birthday two ways. 1) Darrin had to work on her actual birthday, so I decided to pack up the kids, pick up his mom, Brenda, and have dinner with Darrin at the station. Rylee loved running around the briefing room and enjoying a vanilla shake from In N Out. Darrin enjoyed spending time with his little girl on her birthday. And I enjoyed everyone being together. It was a great day! 2) We had some family over to our house for a little party. Rylee spent practically the entire day in the little wading pool with her cousin, Peer, and her friend, Ava. We couldn't drag them out of that pool! Unfortunately, I didn't even get any photos with the kids in there. oops! But here's a couple that I did get:

One last update is that it's officially time for a big girl bed! Twice now, Rylee has climbed out of her crib. Once when she was in time out and another time after her afternoon nap. Both times, she (thankfully) landed on her feet and greeted us with a sweet "HI!" and a big grin. We were not amused. Today I called the store where we bought her crib to order the toddler rails and conversion kits for her crib - just to find out that it has been discontinued. UGH. So my afternoon was spent calling baby furniture stores from Murietta, to LA to Northern California. I finally found a store in Riverside that actually had the items in stock. Unfortunately, it's not the same color as our crib - so we're going to have to paint it. But I'm just glad that we can pick it up this weekend and not have to worry about Rylee climbing out anymore! I'll post some photos when everything is set up!
